The F.M. Kirby Research Center is a state-of-the-art brain imaging facility where we care about providing optimal comfort and safety. The Kirby Center is a subdivision of the Kennedy Krieger Institute (KKI) and is organized with the Department of Radiology at Johns Hopkins University.

Kennedy Krieger Institute is an integrated, interdisciplinary, and collaborative organization dedicated to the study and care of brain disorders. Here at the Kirby Center, we develop and provide technologies for imaging the functional properties and organization of the brain.

These technologies are called functional MRI (fMRI). Functional MRI is an exciting advancement over standard MRI. It allows scientists to study the areas of the brain that are active when performing different tasks. Please visit the links below for further information about the Kirby Center and the a description of how fMRI works.
